How Seretide works[1]

Seretide for Asthma

To help keep the airways in the lungs to stay open and reduce swelling and irritation in the lungs, Seretide is a combination ‘maintenance’ medication that contains two medication types:

1.  An Inhaled Corticosteroid (ICS)

  • ICS reduces swelling and irritation in the lungs.

2.  A Long-Acting Bronchodilator

  • Bronchodilators help the airways in the lungs to stay open. This makes it easier for air to get in and out.

Seretide helps to stop breathlessness and wheeziness coming on. It does not work once you are breathless or wheezy. If that happens you need to use a fast acting ‘reliever’ medication, such as salbutamol (your blue inhaler).
